We are in Sanremo, the most famous resort on the Riviera di Ponente, also known as the Riviera of flowers.
Sanremo is a town with an extraordinarily mild climate, located just 60 minutes from Niceairport and 45 minutes from Monte Carlo.
We recommend a visit to the late- medieval old town “La Pigna”, the Russian Orthodox Church, the romanesquegothic Cathedral of San Siro, the Casino – symbol of the town since 1905 - the Palazzo Ducale Borea d’Olmo, Villa Nobel and Villa Ormond with its lush, botanic gardens.
For sports enthusiasts, the 18-hole Golf Club degli Ulivi, the historic Solaro horse racing course, the Sanremo Tennis Club, the Porto Vecchio with its Yacht Club and the modern Portosole are mustsees.
The city is famous for its flower crops, numerous social, cultural and sporting events (such as the Festival della Canzone Italiana, Milan-Sanremo bicycle race, Rally of Sanremo, the flower cart festival “Sanremo in Fiore” and many more) and for the illustrious personalities who have stayed here: from Monet to Ciajkovskij, from Alfred Nobel, founder of the Nobel Prize, to famous members of the European aristocracy and elite, not forgetting the international jet set.
Furthermore, Sanremo is an ideal setting for conferences, meetings and excursions to the characteristic hinterland with its charming villages as well as trips to Monte Carlo and the nearby French Riviera.
You mustn’t miss out on shoppingin the city centre’s elegant boutiques, prestigious jewellery shops and strolling around the colourful and characteristic open-air market on Tuesday and Saturday morning.
